IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII „Silver Edition“ Concept & technology The reference IW327002 deliberately breaks with the austere, black instrument look of classic pilot's watches and offers an elegant interpretation of the theme. Technically, it remains true to the requirements of the line: an inner case made of soft iron effectively protects the movement against magnetic fields. The Stainless steel-housing with 40 mm diameter follows the tradition of the legendary Mark 11 and offers perfect balance on the wrist. Its resistance to pressure drop makes it a fully-fledged instrument for aviation. Caliber & Details Inside, the robust Caliber 35111, a mechanical automatic movement known for its reliability. It offers a Power reserve from 42 hours and also drives the date at the 3 o'clock position in addition to the central second hand. The movement is equipped with a Incabloc shock protection and operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour. Despite the solid case back, the caliber is regulated and finished according to IWC standards to ensure maximum precision in daily use. Housing & construction The design is characterized by satin-finished surfaces with polished accents on the bezel. The screw-down case back bears a detailed engraving of the Junkers Ju 52, a tribute to the pioneering days of aviation. With a Water resistance from 6 bar the watch is sealed for everyday use. The sapphire crystal is anti-reflective on both sides and specially secured against sudden pressure drops in the cockpit, which underlines the design integrity. Aesthetics & Readability The silver-plated dial lends the IW327002 a visual lightness. In contrast to the matt black standard model, black numerals and hands provide the necessary contrast and guarantee optimum readability. The Super-LumiNova-coated indices at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock as well as the hands enable orientation in the dark. The look is rounded off by a black calfskin strap from the Santoni manufacture, which adds an exclusive accent with its orange-colored inside.
